SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM

FSH is led by a dynamic Senior Management Team (SMT) with a wealth of diverse experience. Working closely together, the SMT supports our Managing Director Matt Cappleman and plans the strategy for achieving FSH’s long-term vision.

The team maintains a programme of regular investment to support our business development with latest technology and other key resources. The team also ensures that all expenditure and costs are carefully controlled and that customer service standards are monitored and regularly evaluated.

The SMT constantly explores new ways to make our business more efficient and to improve our service to clients and customers.


matt cappleman - group managing director



Matt started his career in construction as an apprentice joiner and 48 years later oversees all aspects of the FSH Group.  He has enjoyed many different construction related roles and on a part time basis obtained a degree in Building Surveying and then became a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building in 2004.

Supported by the Senior Management team and management structure at FSH, Matt is passionate about all of the products that FSH Group offer; whilst maintaining great relationships with his team and clients.

Outside of FSH, Matt enjoys playing Football, Golf and walking the dog (when it’s not raining!).  Matt is happily married to Nicola and has two children, Imogen and James to keep them busy.

stuart welburn - Group finance director 



Stu started his career as a trainee accountant back in 1990 with a firm of Charted Accountants in Huddersfield.  After taking a bit of time out in 1995 to tour Europe in an old, beaten-up transit van, he returned to Leeds, qualified and progressed to a senior management level with an International firm of accountants.  Over the last 15 years Stu has been a Director of various companies in differing industries and returned to FSH for his 2nd stint back in 2017.

Stu is responsible for the group’s financial governance and is experienced in developing and executing business strategies and change management programs to improve customer service, sales growth and financial performance. 

Outside work he has 3 main loves - family, music and sport.  He loves long walks with his wife, Ruth and cooking with his daughter Liv.  Obsessed with music, he buys up to 100 albums a year, enjoys live music and discovering new bands and most sports, especially squash and football.  


chris jessop - operations DIRECTOR



Chris has been working in construction since leaving school as an apprentice joiner, working on projects large and small both in this country and on the continent. This lead to a career progression through some major construction companies with roles ranging from bonus surveyor to quantity surveyor before moving on to FSH in 2011.

Chris’ dynamic approach to the business led to further career progression and he now sits on the board as a shareholder and forms part of the Senior Management Team here at FSH Group Ltd. Chris’ role sees him working closely with both FSH’s Management & FSH’s Support Team’s overseeing the high quality delivery to our insurance clients across all of our 4 regions, resulting in the successful delivery of around 3000 individual insurance claims per year.

Since Chris’ Directorship he has overseen Surge work in Carlisle and Yorkshire, he has implemented our move onto the Big Change platform, successfully creating efficiencies in the operational teams, providing profitability and structural stability across the insurance division of the business, Chris has also overseen the integration of new staff and trades from various business acquisitions, ensuring minimal disruption to clients and operations.

Chris is continually driving the teams to deliver an efficient, productive arm of the business whilst maintaining the great relationships we have with our client base and delivering a great service to our policyholders.

Chris is father to three boys and when he is not busy helping them navigate through life he enjoys travelling, attending music events and cooking.



IAN WOOD - Non executive director 




Ian is now celebrating over 40 years in the building trade. After an apprenticeship with a major building company, his career spanned many construction-related roles and sectors as a joiner, planner, quantity surveyor, site manager and contracts manager. Then in 1989 he set up his own building business, known today as FSH Group Ltd. 
 
Ian currently is semi-retired but still finds time to promote the company’s evolution, ensuring continual development and improvement while also maintaining strong relationships and generating new business with existing customers. 
 
Passionate about the wellbeing of FSH and its people, Ian is proud that the company sustains a strong family feel and culture in which team members feel supported and valued and are always willing to help each other and their customers.
 
Ian enjoys watching Castleford Tigers RL and Leeds United. He loves taking time out on the golf course and enjoys playing and listening to music. Ians wife, Sarah loves spending time with Ian, walking in the countryside with their border collie, Bracken and their two adult sons, Joe and Anthony, and one young son, Harvey.
