New vacancy - Estimator (with Conquest experience)


JOB PURPOSE:
Ensure that all new work is accurately estimated, recorded and determine likely costs and resources required, including materials and labour in order to ensure that projects secure value for money, cost certainty and complete on time.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
  • Individual projects are accurately assessed, quoted and planned for profit, and then ensure that the FSH data base and client web portals are updated.
  • Ensure that all information collated on site is transferred to the manager; no information should be left in your head.
  • Must have experience of the Conquest data base system.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Attend prospective client sites and undertake a full measure with accurate quantities to enable competitive quotation to be submitted.
  • Complete bespoke estimates and scoped estimates/schedules in line with clients requirements.
  • Accurately price tender documents in line with client requirements and the submission of requested tenders on time and to the return deadlines.
  • Engage with new and existing subcontract trades / companies to gain best price / value / quality & service.
  • Undertake ongoing subcontract evaluation / scoring. 
  • Ability to “take off” from tender drawings and produce bill of quants as required.
  • Update Web Portals and FSH Database with accurate information.
  • Complete a planning for profit calculation on every project.
  • Complete a risk assessment for every project.
  • Complete an ACM assessment of every property. 
  • Complete a method statement when required (highlighted in risk assessment). 
  • Complete supplements. 
  • Assist with the final account process as required. 
  • Assist the Repair Team with site visits and PCM’s. 
  • Great communications with customers and construction team members.
  • Cross selling FSH Group products during the initial meeting.
  • Assist other Estimators / Line Managers when necessary with tenders or holiday cover.
  • Ensure the effective use of all relevant resources i.e. people, finance and assets.

  • Provide continuing change / process for “better working practice”. 

SPECIAL PROJECTS:
  • Responsible for keeping up to date with client process changes.
  • Responsible for deputised surveyors for holiday cover and surge.

SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES:
Essential
  • Conquest software experience / knowledge.
  • Excellent building knowledge. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to work alone using initiative to deal with problems encounter and equally as part of an effective team. .
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to manage job workloads and achieve targets. 
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to workload to complete deadlines. 
  • IT literate with experience of software packages. 
  • Experience of using databases and spreadsheets. 
  • Analytical approach to the estimating process.
Desirable 
  • Knowledge and experience in bespoke estimating software packages. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the various schedule of rates, NSR / NHF etc.
  • Experience of working on maintenance of domestic and commercial properties.
  • Experience of working within a similar role. 
  • Knowledge and experience working within the local authority / private bespoke build and commercial sectors.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Essential

  • Excellent construction knowledge. 
  • Have a knowledge and understanding of the health and safety regulations.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Essential
  • Maintain an excellent attendance record. 
  • Prepared to work as part of a team. 
  • A commitment to quality and accuracy. 
  • Hold a current UK drivers licence.
