New home, new hope and a whole lot of help
The fire and rescue services are called to around 40,000 house and dwelling fires each year in Great Britain. Although many of these fires are minor, the impact of a serious house fire can be enormous.
From disaster…
When their comfortable home was destroyed by fire, Mrs Latty and her son were left with little more than a blackened shell. Thankfully they were both safe and insured, and the main challenge was therefore to rebuild and restore their home so that they could return to their normal daily lives as soon as possible.
Having called on FSH to help them with this mammoth task, the Lattys were impressed from the start when FSH arrived promptly and as promised to help with the huge list of tasks to be done. For a start, the family urgently needed temporary accommodation while the works began on their home. FSH gave help and guidance, and handled all the important and detailed paperwork on Mrs Latty’s behalf. With the family safely rehomed, the FSH project manager and surveyor team assessed and planned the work to be done and brought in the skilled tradespeople to strip out and clean the site ready for the rebuild, which continued on schedule.
“There was very little left of the original house,” says Mrs Latty. “FSH had to put in new ceilings, floors, windows… It was a huge task but they were excellent. They helped me with design ideas and the choices to be made about materials and made sure I got what just what I wanted. For example, I had no idea about which doors to choose, so one of the FSH lads took me to the shops to look at what was available and helped me find the ideal ones.
…to recovery
The house was completed in March 2015 and the Lattys are delighted to be back in their pristine new home. “The work has been done beautifully,” says Mrs Latty. “I’d recommend FSH to anyone. They’re not only smart, tidy and professional, they’re all so thoughtful friendly and helpful, too… A lovely bunch of people!”
