Turning disaster into delight

A serious fire had destroyed much of this detached family home’s interior, leaving a burned-out shell. Thankfully the home was insured, but the family’s trauma was so intense that they believed they could never again return to their property.

Starting from scratch
Our client tasked FSH with refurbishing the house and turning it back into a welcoming home once more. We completely stripped the property, leaving just its shell and first floor timbers. Then, our teams moved in quickly to refurbish every inch of the interior, a project which demanded the specialist skills of our plasterers, joiners, electricians, painters and decorators, plumbers, and others. We also raised the home’s thermal performance and efficiency to provide the family with greater warmth and lower fuel bills. The work was completed to a high standard finish on time, on budget, and without any snagging requests.

Far more than just a builder…
Understanding the fundamental importance of this project to the homeowners and their family, we were keen to reassure them and help them adjust to the transformation. We visited them and contacted them regularly, keeping them fully updated on progress.

The happiest ending!
To our delight, members of our team were able to welcome the family back to their beautifully restored home, and even the most traumatised of the family members were able to return without fear. Having rejected their earlier plan to sell the refurbished house, they were elated and proud to be back home and offered FSH the opportunity to use it as a ‘show home’ to demonstrate our work to prospective customers. A wonderful result all round!
