Connect Housing - Head Office Makeover

Connect Housing are thrilled with the work we completed at their head office recently.

FSH was awarded the contract to carry out a refurbishment programme which included a full strip out, complete decoration, new floor coverings throughout, new signage to the building, design and build of a new reception desk/area, fire remedial works, new LED lighting throughout, creating new internal links to offices, creating a new area for standing desks and other small repairs throughout the building.

Due to the amount of works required the Connect Housing staff were relocated to other offices for the refurbishment period. A strict timescale was given of 3 weeks to complete all the works.

A tight programme was set to ensure the handover was achieved which was reviewed daily on site.  Any changes were implemented on a daily basis to maintain the work flow and keep the target achievable.
Throughout the works there were items that came to light which were only exposed once the strip out was completed, which then had to be added to the programme without adding to the handover date.  One major issue was all the floor areas were revealed to be in very bad condition and required numerous patch repairs and a full floor screed applied.  Due to the scale of this the works were carried out over a couple of nightshifts to allow the programme to continue.

Following an issue with the clients furniture supplier with regards delivery dates we needed to change the programme and completely finish the large office area on the ground floor to allow the furniture to be delivered on the given date.  An adaptable proactive approach was needed whilst we were on site due to the changes and unforeseen works, asking for an extension of time was not an option as operation of the office was crucial for the date given.

The works were completed on time and to budget with agreed variations.  The client was thrilled with the results and our team were invited to the grand opening, presided over by the CEO Helen Lennon who personally praised our team for their hard work, flexible approach and outstanding workmanship.

Our Head of Construction Lee Billington congratulated Contracts Manager Davinder Chaggar on successfully turning around the project to such a high standard in what was a very tight timeframe.
